Confirming the research and then implementing the service to businesses and communities around the world is our plan. Putting that plan into action is where the idea of earthworms shines.
Worms are incredible creatures. They have been able to survive and thrive for millions of years. They have proven time and again that they can adapt to their environments. Earthworms are hermaphrodites, which means they contain both male and female reproductive organs. This allows for excellent adaptation abilities in new environments. Worms naturally eat decaying matter in soil and let off castings, which are fantastic fertilizers. An added bonus is that worms use calcium carbonate while digesting food. Calcium carbonate is found in all parts of the world and is evidence of natural carbon sequestration.(1)
Worm farm’s are the progression of agriculture and have been used throughout history. Cleopatra knew worms helped the rich soil around the Nile river and made exporting soil illegal and punishable by death. That is why the area around the Nile has some of the richest soil in the world today. By focusing on the creature that helps aerate the soil, and promoting its growth in a controlled environment, worm farms can help maintain our eco system with advantages unforeseen in the past. A sustainable eco-system is a fight worth fighting.
Sustainability, it is the basic term when ecologists get into an argument. Most will argue that one source is how to accomplish the goal, and most will argue that another source will accomplish the goal. The endless battle will wage while the heads of for-profit businesses figurehead scams that steal millions. If we know it is happening, what can we do? There may be no clear answer, but the best option is to move ahead with sustainability in the face of adversity. We have concluded that human activity is creating an impact on our ecosystem that can not be ignored any longer. We believe that using human activities, like worm farm agriculture, and combining them with waste management, our future will look brighter by the day.
